I managed to find someone who was free to do the narration for my animation. I knew I wanted a strong voice, and someone who is used to speaking and narrating. I was fortunate enough that my dad was free one night to help me with this. I have been using the Audition Software to help me with the cutting and to examine the sound clips ready for my Flash file.

Effects for Happy Ending Imagery

I decided that the endings should also different in effect from one another, to show the sad ending of death and the happy ending.

Final Imagery

Now I am happy that the structure sound and imagery is all together and the coding is correct. I have gone on to looking at how I can change the ending imager to make it stand out from the others. Making it visually interesting and defining that end point.

I took one of the end images back to photoshop and looked at how I could create different effects.

I re-considered my original thought of adding text to narrate the story, I thought this would disturb the imagery too much. Therefore my other solution is to record a someone speaking the story. For the speaking voice I want something that is not childish, maybe quite deep, but nothing that will be to overpowering. For the narration I will just have the speaker read the original Angela Carter story, then I will record the other options separate.

Original Story link available in previous post: Story Options.

The other options:

Happy Ending:

  1. Now the Countess was bare as a bone and the girl furred, she was left in the cold. To the girls surprise a handsome and kind stranger came by and rescued her from the cold. She was eternally grateful to this stranger, so she gave him the diamond the countess left, The stranger loved her and they lived a long happy future together.

  2. Now the Countess was bare as a bone and the girl furred and booted, she was left in the cold so she walked and walked until she came across a small cottage. To the girls surprise their lived a handsome and kind stranger he offered her warmth from the cold. She was eternally grateful to this stranger, she loved him and they lived a long happy future together.

After finishing lengthen the movie clips, I decided that I needed to revise the appearance of the options. I thought about using images instead of yes or no like this tick and cross.

However I think this suggests that there is a correct and wrong option.

I decided to use and image of what is to come, and because it is a yes or no question I thought it was important to keep this text.  I like this effect I feel it is more fitting for the style of the piece. I may consider a different typeface or giving some of the words an extra space, like: “Child fetch”.

After editing the sound I started to complete the transitions and extending the clip to work alongside the image.

(There is sound on this clip, but it has not recorded very well.)

There are some movie clips, where the image on that timeline need extending still, and there is also the appearance of the questions I need to consider, currently it looks like there is a right or wrong answer, where this is not necessarily the case. As I am starting to piece the animation together I am realising that adding a spoken narration to this piece, would be highly effective and this is something I will need to start recording.
